Commissioned by the Archives of Modern Records, the Lidex Translation Centre carried out the translation from Polish into Bosnian and English of the documents that were included in the exhibition on the Katy\u0144 Massacre.<\/p>\n

The ceremonial opening of the exhibition took place last Friday, i.e. on the Day of Remembrance for Victims of the Katy\u0144 Massacre, at the headquarters of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina.<\/p>\n

The exhibition is the result of cooperation between the archives of Poland and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It has been prepared on the basis of archival documents collected at the Central Archives of Modern Records (AAN) and at other memorial institutions in Poland, including the Archive of the President of the Republic of Poland. The boards present the course of events, beginning with the imprisonment of thousands of soldiers and officers of the Polish army and police in Soviet captivity after the USSR’s aggression against Poland in September 1939. <\/p>\n

The next boards depict the Soviet authorities’ decision to murder Polish prisoners of war in March 1940 and the execution of over 22,000 people, the discovery of graves in Katy\u0144 by the German army in 1943 and the exhumations carried out, the policy of the Soviet authorities hiding the truth about the crime, and finally its disclosure in the 1990s, including the transfer of key documents revealing the perpetrators of the crime to the Polish state archives by the Russian authorities. The final part was devoted to the presentation of places and forms of remembrance of the Katy\u0144 Massacre.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
